Felipe reaffirms his love for Flamengo and shows no concern about criticism.
The new Flamengo goalkeeper wants to prove his worth while wearing the sacred jersey and overcome doubts.

Announced as Flamengo's first signing for the 2011 season, goalkeeper Felipe was officially presented this Wednesday afternoon (December 29.12th) at Gávea. After undergoing all the usual medical exams, the Flamengo goalkeeper signed a one-year contract with the club, which will have the option to buy the player's rights in the middle and at the end of the year.
Aware that he arrives with a great responsibility, Felipe hopes to show the potential that has elevated him to the level of one of the best goalkeepers in the country, without worrying about what people think of him off the field.
"Without a doubt, this is another opportunity I'm having. Now, you'll really get to know who I am. Everyone has problems. I've never been a saint and I'm not going to be, but I'm also not all that people say I am. If you do well on the field, the people who don't like you have to put up with it," said Felipe, a Flamengo fan since he was a child.
"I'm from Rio. I moved to Salvador as a child, but I've always been a Flamengo fan. I have affection for Corinthians and it never crossed my mind to play for Flamengo. Now, I hope for great success," he stated.
And the controversy surrounding the penalty he failed to save, when he was still the goalkeeper for Corinthians in the 2009 Brazilian Championship, was also brought up at the press conference during his presentation.
"It was Flamengo that helped itself in 2009. They won the games they had to win. They won the Brazilian Championship on their own merit and not because of others. I chose to stay in the middle to save the penalty. I didn't help Flamengo. I wanted to help Corinthians. If I had saved the penalty, the game would have ended 1-0," he explained.
Eager to fight for the starting spot on the professional team in 2011, Felipe hopes to win the duel with the goalkeepers already on the Flamengo roster in order to finally wear the sacred number 1 jersey.
"If the club authorizes it, there's no problem (wearing the number 1 jersey). I'd like to wear it. Great Flamengo goalkeepers have worn that jersey. I had a problem mid-year and had to leave. The options were Serie B or Europe. I chose to leave, but an invitation from Flamengo is hard to refuse. Of course, I have a great affection for Corinthians, but from today I'm a true Flamengo supporter," he concluded.
