Juan is in his fifth season as a Flamengo player. In today's football world, this is a significant milestone, especially considering the club with the largest fan base in Brazil. It was with Flamengo that the left-back reached the pinnacle of his career, winning state championships, a Brazilian Cup, a Brazilian Championship, and a call-up to the Brazilian national team.
Even with a resume packed with victories, Juan was questioned by some fans, but he revealed that he never lost sight of his most important characteristic: a strong personality that keeps him trying his best. And this persistence, combined with his good form, has once again paid off.
"Obviously, I'm very happy to have scored twice in the last three games. It's good to know that your daily work is paying off, that your effort is paying off. In 2010, I started to be consistent again. Last year, I had injuries and couldn't perform as well as I would have liked. Now, everything is going well," said Juan.
Regarding the goal scored in Flamengo's last game, against Grêmio Prudente, on Sunday (23.05), the left-back explained that he did not try to shoot at goal, but the celebration was the same as if he had actually shot.
"I tried to touch it, but I saw the ball heading towards the goal. It started to rise, going over the goalkeeper, and I started cheering. It all happened very quickly, and when the ball went in, I ran to celebrate. The team needed that goal. It was a wonderful feeling," he said, clarifying that he has no intention of leaving Flamengo.
"I'm going into my fifth season here. And we players know there's always pressure. It's the life we chose, and we have to know how to deal with it. I can speak for myself and I won't hide from anyone how happy I am here. I like the environment, the people I work with, the city, and I'm not thinking about leaving. I have no desire to," Juan concluded.
