The Rio de Janeiro Football Federation (FERJ) was found guilty by the 38th Civil Court of bad-faith litigation in an accountability lawsuit filed by Flamengo. The organization allegedly obstructed the progress of the lawsuit filed by Flamengo in 1997.

In 1996, a portion of the box office revenue (2%) was earmarked for trophy purchases, but Flamengo challenged these accounts in court. The Court of Justice (TJ-RJ) ordered the Federation to account for this, but this was not done during the time of former president Eduardo Vianna.

Now under the command of the current president, Rubens Lopes, FERJ claimed that it could not present the financial statements for the period, as the documents disappeared when the headquarters were moved.

With the decision, the judge of the 38th Civil Court, Camilla Prado, issued a search and seizure warrant for all documentation requested by the expert.

"Now the bailiff will try to get this documentation. If he can't, we'll try elsewhere," said Flamengo's lawyer in the case, Dr. Ércio Braga.
