Midfielder Fernando was officially unveiled this afternoon as Flamengo's newest signing for the Brazilian Championship. The former Mixto player from Mato Grosso said this is the best moment of his life.

"It's an honor to wear this jersey. It's definitely the best moment of my life. Playing for a club with Flamengo's history is every player's dream. I had to dedicate myself completely to seize this opportunity," said the player, who signed a contract until December 2009.

Second top scorer in Série C, with 10 goals in 10 games, Fernando doesn't believe he will feel the pressure of playing for Brazil's biggest club.

"I'm prepared and won't feel the pressure here. I know it's hard to please everyone, but I promise to fight hard to win over the fans. I hope to maintain the good goal average I had at Mixto at Flamengo."

Little known on the national scene, Fernando spoke a little about his characteristics to Flamengo fans.

"I always like to play forward, I have a good pass, and I always play by attacking defenders. I can play as a midfielder or as a second striker. I'm in good physical shape and at Caio Júnior's disposal to help Flamengo."
