Fernando celebrates his return 'with his family'
Midfielder jokes about the hard tackle he received from his brother Carlos Alberto: "We'll settle it at home"

At the end of last Sunday's derby (August 01.08st), Vasco supporter Carlos Alberto's cell phone kept ringing. It was Dona Maria de Fátima, the player's mother. The reason for the call? A scolding for a rough tackle Carlos had made on his brother, Fernando, a Flamengo midfielder. The Cruzmaltino's number 19 then ran out of his locker room to find out how his younger brother was doing. Fernando, in turn, joked with his brother and, smiling, promised to get revenge at home.
"This is something we can resolve at home. It's a family thing. We exchange a few punches and stay at home (laughs)," said the Flamengo midfielder in an interview with Flamengo's official website.
A curious scene that perfectly reflects the spirit of what rivalry between clubs and fans should be like: healthy and confined to the field. After exchanging a few words, each member of the Gomes de Jesus family went their separate ways. Carlos Alberto, with a renewed contract with Vasco, and Fernando, happy to be back playing after a long layoff due to injury.
"Getting back together with my teammates and helping the team in this match was important. I had a good week, played well, and it was great to be back. I think it was a great show. The fans put on a great show. We had chances to score, but their goalkeeper was lucky and the match ended in a draw," said Fernando.
At 23, Fernando Gomes de Jesus joined Flamengo at the beginning of the year and has already made 17 appearances for the club, scoring three goals and providing one assist. The midfielder arrived at Gávea after two excellent seasons with Goiás, where he won the Goiás championship in 2009.
