Fernando's Tricolor roots and his kinship with Vasco da Gama's Carlos Alberto haven't hindered midfielder Fernando's quick adaptation to Flamengo. Despite experiencing thigh discomfort in Monday's training session, he's recovering and will have another chance to shine this Wednesday against Americano.

If he repeats his strong performances from previous matches, Fernando has everything he needs to have another great performance. In his debut, against Duque de Caxias, he scored the winning goal in a 3-2 victory. And in his last match, against Bangu, he initiated the play for Vagner Love's first goal for the red and black team. The recipe for success? The number 17 believes that, despite Flamengo's good form both individually and as a whole, the match against Americano this Wednesday at 19:30 pm at Maracanã should be taken very seriously. According to him, the Campos team's poor record in the first few games of the State Championship doesn't translate into the field, and Flamengo will have to work hard to earn three more points.

"Americano is coming off a thrashing, but we're not thinking about that. We have to do our job. It's a game like any other, and we're focused on winning, regardless of Sunday's derby. There's no point in thinking about Flu before doing the job tomorrow (Wednesday)," he added.
