Midfielder Fernando will have another chance to start this Saturday at 19:30 PM against Resende. Signed from Goiás at the beginning of the year, he has been making the most of his opportunities and, as such, has the confidence of coach Andrade to replace Kleberson, who was released from the match.
Despite having already scored three goals for Flamengo, Fernando knows he needs to continue proving his worth. The number 17 knows the club will face a marathon of important matches and will need all players in top form.
"These are 14 days that can help us a lot, both in the State Championship and in the Libertadores. It's important that I continue to play well. That's the only way I can continue to find my place in the group. The game against Resende is, indeed, important, as we can't afford to slip up," he stated.
And the midfielder's goal is to remain a starter for good. It was with this mindset that he arrived at Flamengo.
"I've been trying to improve every day. I've been able to play well and I think I've pleased the coach. I've been scoring goals and I'm very happy about that. I hope to improve more and more with each game," he concluded.
Adriano, also released by the club from Saturday's game, is expected to also miss the match against Caracas on Wednesday (10.03), for the Copa Santander Libertadores. This measure was taken by the football board, which contacted the player this Friday.
"I contacted him this morning and he was released. The player is having personal issues and, therefore, he is released until Monday," said vice president of football Marcos Braz.
