Filipe Luís is Flamengo's new player
Left-back signs contract with Rubro-Negro until December 2021
By Romulo Paranhos - inIt's official! Filipe Luís is Flamengo's new player. The 33-year-old left-back arrives at the club after 14 years in Europe and signs a contract until December 31, 2021. He is the club's fourth signing, joining Rafinha, Gerson, and Pablo Marí as mid-season signings.
Born in Jaraguá do Sul, Santa Catarina, and discovered by Figueirense in 2003, the player was a great star of the Santa Catarina team and transferred to Ajax in the Netherlands. Filipe also played for Deportivo La Coruña in Spain and was voted the best left-back in the Spanish Championship in the 2008/2009 season.
On the rise in Europe, the Brazilian was signed by Atlético Madrid in July 2010, signing a five-year contract with the Spanish club. During that time, he had a brief stint with Chelsea in England before being re-signed by the Colchoneros, where he remained until June 2019. For the Brazilian national team, Filipe Luís played in the 2018 World Cup and won the 2019 Copa América.

The left-back will arrive in Rio de Janeiro in the coming days to join the red-black squad, which still has the Brazilian Championship and Conmebol Libertadores competitions ahead.
