The youth teams won their matches against the Portuguesa teams last Saturday (27/09), in games valid for the first round of the return leg of the 2008 State Futsal Championship.
The U-09 team won 14-0, with Gabriel Magalhães scoring four goals. The U-11 team won 4-2, and the U-13 team 9-1. With these results, Flamengo's teams remain leaders in their groups and strong contenders for the title.
The U-15 and U-17 teams faced the Pentágono teams in Gávea and achieved good results. The U-15 team was trailing 3-0 and managed to draw 3-3. Despite a depleted squad and without their coach on the bench (who was sent off in the derby against Fluminense in the previous round), Flamengo secured an important point and is in the qualifying zone for the next round, in fourth place.
The under-17 team won 4-3. In a hard-fought game, with two red-and-blacks (one for each team) and many complaints about the refereeing, the red-and-black team secured second place in its group and remains one of the favorites for the category title.
The youth and adult teams traveled to Cabo Frio for a doubleheader against the teams from Cabo Frio. The under-20 team won their match 3-2 and is now in second place in the Championship. The adult team drew 3-3 and remains in second place in their group. The draw felt like a defeat for the red-and-black team, which was leading the match 3-0.
The red-black girls beat the Mackenzie team 6-4 and remain in the classification zone for the next phase, in fourth place.
The red-and-black futsal team will only return to the courts for official matches at the end of October, due to the Futsal World Cup, which is being held in Brazil. During the three weeks without State matches, the teams continue training and are expected to play some friendlies.
