With the match tied 1-1 after regulation time, the championship went to penalties, and Flamengo won 5-4. Flamengo's goal was scored by Anderson, an own goal. While attempting to clear a ball inside his own box, the player ended up opening the scoring with a bicycle kick. Vinícius equalized for Cruzeiro.
