Flamengo's squad is already at the SPA Sport Resort in Itu, where they will hold their first training session of the second half of the preseason at 15:30 p.m. The group traveled on Tuesday morning (June 29.06), landed at Campinas airport, and then took a bus to Itu, hoping to return to Rio next Wednesday (July 07.07) with much more than just the starting lineup or players in peak physical condition. The idea is to return with the squad even more united.
Defender David, who is hoping to extend his contract with the club, is one of the players who stands out for his good humor in the group and is banking on this atmosphere in the squad to make his days in Itu very productive.
"I think everything we're given to do here will be important. We'll have full-time days working, honing our physical, technical, and tactical skills. This will be crucial. But I believe the best thing of all is that we're all together these days, further strengthening the unity of this wonderful squad," said the defender.
Coach Rogério Lourenço agrees. He emphasizes the importance of tactical work in defining the team that will likely face Botafogo on the 14th, when the Red-Black team returns to play in the Brazilian Championship. But he also comments on the importance of group unity during these days away from Rio.
"We're going to make the most of these days to give the team a new look. We'll wait for the players who could be signed, but it's very important to already work on the tactical side. We have some players who could stay, others who could leave, and we'll test all the options. But without a doubt, this point of everyone being together is crucial," he added.
