Rubro-Negros and Alviverdes play for affirmation and to continue dreaming of the first places

Just four points separate ninth-place Palmeiras from 15th-place Flamengo in the Brazilian Championship standings. This Saturday (September 24.09), they'll face off. The São Paulo team is looking to distance itself from Flamengo, who, in turn, are looking to close the gap on Palmeiras and the teams in the top spots. Therefore, the 18:30 PM match at the Engenhão stadium is seen as a championship finale by both sides.
Undefeated in four matches, Flamengo wants to maintain its winning streak and continue its push in the competition. To do so, they need to win their matches against direct rivals like Palmeiras.
"It's another decision we'll face. Every game is a final and worth more than three points. These are direct confrontations right to the end, with opponents who are also pursuing their goals, and it's going to be a very difficult game. Palmeiras has a great team, a great coach, we'll respect them, but we need to go out there looking for the win," said supporter Renato.
The mission, however, won't be easy. And the red-and-blacks know it. Coach Silas highly praised the opponent, coached by Felipão, and expressed confidence that the match will be well-played at Engenhão. Despite this, he's confident of a good result.
"They're tough, no doubt about it. They have important characteristics there. Excellent coaching, free-kick takers, speed. They have aerial possession. Palmeiras is going through a difficult time, but they have our respect. We want to get a win to get closer to them," he said.
Flamengo fans can be a big help if they do their part this Saturday. Striker Diogo is asking for the support of the Flamengo Nation for matches at Engenhão and believes that with the team's 12th player playing alongside the team, it will be difficult to beat Flamengo at home.
"It's another home game, with the support of our fans, and we have to make the most of our home advantage. Unfortunately, we're not playing at Maracanã, but we have to make Engenhão our new home and earn points from the matches we play there," he added.
