Fla debuts with a draw in the Libertadores
Rubro-negro had more chances in the 0-0 draw with Coronel Bolognesi.
By Flamengo Archive - inIn its Copa Libertadores debut, Flamengo drew 0-0 with Coronel Bolognesi on Wednesday night in Tacna, Peru, in a Group 4 match. This Thursday, Cienciano-PER faces Nacional-URU in Cusco, closing out the first round of the group.
The opening minutes of the match were uneventful. The Peruvian team's first good chance fell in the 11th minute, with Gonzalez Vigil forcing a good save from Bruno. Soon after, Ibson found Léo Moura free on the right; the full-back fired a powerful shot from the edge of the box, but goalkeeper Penny saved.
In the 18th minute, Gonzalez Vigial once again threatened goalkeeper Bruno with a dangerous cross-shot. Colonel Bolognesi kept stopping Flamengo's attacks with fouls, creating difficulties for the team from Gávea.
In the 38th minute, Juan took a dangerous free kick from the edge of the box. Late in the first half, Toró, one of the best players on the pitch, was injured and had to be replaced by Kléberson.
In the second half, the red-and-black team quickly created the first chances through Diego Tardelli and Ibson. Despite dominating the game, the team from Gávea failed to put pressure on their Peruvian opponents.
In the 25th minute, Souza left Ibson in a great position, but the midfielder wasted another chance, shooting over the bar. Coach Joel Santana decided to make changes, taking off forwards Diego Tardelli and Souza and bringing on Obina and Marcinho.
In Flamengo's last chance of the game, in the 43rd minute, Léo Moura entered the area and passed to Marcinho, the defender shot, the goalkeeper rebounded, but Obina missed an incredible chance in the penalty area.
In the next round, Flamengo faces Cienciano, on the 27th, at Maracanã.
