Flamengo's dream of a second Copa Libertadores title will begin in Venezuela against Caracas. Although the dates for the competition's group stage matches have not yet been announced, CONMEBOL announced the order of the games on Thursday night.

Flamengo's fans will have the chance to put on their first show in the second round, when the team will host the winner of the match between Argentina's fifth-placed team and Universidad Católica of Chile, who are both playing in the Libertadores preliminary round. Flamengo will close the first round against Universidad de Chile in Santiago. In the second round, the home teams will be reversed.

Caracas is a ten-time Venezuelan champion and has played in nine Copa Libertadores. This year, they had the best performance, but were eliminated by Grêmio in the quarterfinals. The team leads the Venezuelan Championship, and their stadium, Cocodrilos Sports Park, has a capacity of 30. In the latest call-up for the Venezuelan national team for the qualifiers, five players from the team were called up: goalkeeper Vega, defender Rey, full-back Cichero, defensive midfielder Lucena, and midfielder Ramirez.

The other three Brazilian clubs in the group stage also debut away from home. Corinthians will face Colombia's second-placed representative in Group 1. São Paulo, in Group 2, will travel to Manizales to play against Colombia's Once Caldas. And Inter will have a tough trip to Ecuador to play at an altitude of 2.850 meters against Deportivo Quito.
