Fla is tied, but can gain points from Vassouras

The State Futsal match continued on Thursday night and ended 4-4. An irregular player from Vassourenses, however, could give the Rubro-Negro victory.

On Wednesday night, the match between Flamengo and Vassouras for the State Futsal Championship had to be interrupted two minutes from the end due to a disturbance in the stands of the Hélio Maurício Gymnasium, in Gávea. Therefore, the game resumed where it left off yesterday (Thursday) at the same venue. With a player down, since Jaxwell had been sent off shortly after the Vassourenses goal that started the whole mess, Flamengo didn't have many chances to secure the victory, and the match ended even with the score at 4-4. However, fielding an ineligible player in the visiting team could have given the victory to the red-and-blacks.

The draw wasn't a bad result for the Gávea team. With the point earned, the team remained in fourth place, two points ahead of Vassouras and level on 17 with América, who is third in the table. Since the top four teams qualify for the semifinals, and América and Vassouras face off in the final round, Flamengo would already be a significant step toward qualifying. However, things could get even better.

Vassouras' winger Marcelino, who scored a goal in the 4-4 draw, was suspended for two games by the Rio de Janeiro Futsal Federation. However, he served only one match and, as a result, entered the court against Flamengo in an irregular situation. Therefore, the Flamengo board has the right to file an appeal with the FFSERJ court, which could hand the victory to the team from Gávea. If this happens, the team will be virtually guaranteed a place in the next round.

It's worth noting that coach Cid Escarlate's team still has three games left in the state championship qualifying round: they face Comary on Monday at 20 p.m. in Teresópolis, followed by Cabo Frio and Petrópolis. The red-and-blacks are the current state champions and are fighting for their second title.
