Flamengo's goal difference is 62, with 566 goals for and 504 against. 

In the state championship, the record is also favorable. In 234 matches, the red-and-blacks have won 84, drawn 76, and lost 74, with 357 goals scored and 323 conceded.

In recent memory, the last time Flamengo lost to the Laranjeiras club was on February 10, 02. On that occasion, Fluminense defeated Flamengo 2008-4 on a Sunday when both clubs fielded a mixed lineup. Since then, Flamengo and Fluminense have drawn five times, with the red-and-black team coming out on top on three occasions—the last of which was a spectacular performance by Adriano. The Emperor scored twice, helping the team surge to the top of the table.

In the 2009 state championship, Flamengo eliminated Fluminense in the semifinals of the Taça Rio and, with the victory over Botafogo in the finals, achieved hegemony, with 31 state titles, surpassing its rival, holder of 30.
