Flamengo got off to a strong start in its quest for its third Copa do Brasil title. Playing at Morenão Stadium in Campo Grande, Flamengo defeated Ivinhema (MS) 5-0 and secured a spot in the next round of the competition. Zé Roberto (2), Léo Moura, Kleberson, and Maxi scored the goals in the red-and-black victory. Flamengo will face the winner of the match between Remo (PA) and Barras (PI) in the second round.

Flamengo took the field with Kleberson replacing Juan, who felt pain in his right calf and was ruled out by the medical department. From the opening minutes, Flamengo's superiority was evident. In the 15th minute, Everton Silva made a good run down the right and crossed perfectly for Josiel, who headed dangerously. Soon after, Zé Roberto received the ball from Léo Moura and shot over Washington's goal. In the 18th minute, Joari took a free kick from the edge of the box, and Bruno made a fine save.

In the 19th minute, Josiel received a beautiful pass from Ibson and crossed to the far post for Léo Moura to tap in: 1-0 Flamengo. Dominating the match, Flamengo extended their lead in the 37th minute. Everton Silva crossed from the right, Ivinhema's defense tried to clear, and the ball fell to Zé Roberto, who fired a stylish shot: 2-0 Flamengo.

In the 45th minute, Kleberson gave a great pass to Zé Roberto, who only had to displace the goalkeeper: 3-0 Flamengo.

With the lead, Flamengo returned for the second half, controlling the ball and keeping the ball in check. In the fourth minute, Léo Moura crossed, and Ibson headed over the bar. Soon after, Josiel had a good chance inside the penalty area, but the number 9's shot went wide.

Cuca decided to make changes to his lineup, bringing in Obina, Maxi, and Fierro to replace Josiel, Zé Roberto, and Airton. In the 39th minute, Fábio Luciano stepped up and provided a good pass to Kleberson, who fired a superb shot: 4-0 Flamengo. Finally, Fierro crossed from the right and Maxi fired it into the top corner of the Ivinhema goalkeeper's net: 5-0 Flamengo.
