Flamengo's players have already started sweating it out at Gávea this Wednesday. The Flamengo squad was divided into three groups and underwent physical tests with physiologist Paulo Figueiredo. The athletes underwent medical exams and ran laps around the pitch in an activity that lasted about two hours.
Left-back Juan believes that this type of work, despite being considered boring by some players, is essential for the rest of the season.
"We have to be patient and work hard. Of course, players like to train with the ball, but it's important for us to do this type of activity. It makes a difference later on, when it comes to overcoming the exhaustion of the marathon of games," he said.
Activities continue over the next few days in Gávea. The team will train full-time on Thursday and Friday, Saturday morning, and Sunday off. Next week, the Rubro-Negro team is expected to return to training at Ninho do Urubu, and on the 28th, they will travel to Itu for the second part of the preseason.
