His trademark hairstyle wasn't even a mohawk when Léo Moura arrived at Flamengo in 2005. Always seen as a right-back with immense potential, it was at Flamengo that he truly shined. Brazilian champion, Copa do Brasil champion, and three-time state champion, the current captain will complete 300 matches for the Sacred Mantle in the next round against Avaí (Sunday, at 16 p.m.) at Ressacada Stadium in Florianópolis. And a celebration is in the works.
Flamengo has prepared a special uniform for Léo Moura to take to the field. Unlike the tributes paid by all clubs to their players, Flamengo will not place the number 300 on the honoree's back. He will wear the number 2, which established him as one of the best in his position, but will have a commemorative patch on his chest. Additionally, the right back will receive a plaque.
"I'm very happy to reach this milestone, especially wearing the jersey of my favorite club. I'm very grateful to my teammates who have helped me throughout these five years. Without them, I wouldn't have been able to reach 300 games," said Léo Moura.
This Saturday (October 09.10th), internet users can check out an exclusive interview with Flamengo's captain for the club's Official Website. In it, Léo Moura talks about the milestone he will reach, and about the happiest and most complicated moments he has experienced at Mais Querido.
