Fla wants to use speed as a weapon in the Brazilian Championship

Itu (SP) - Without many reinforcements and with an attack lacking key players, Flamengo will rely on speed in its return to the Brazilian Championship. Left-back Juan, one of the longest-tenured players on the roster and considered a key player since 2006, already has an idea of how the team might play starting on July 14th, when Flamengo faces Botafogo.
"Since we don't have tall strikers, we have to pass the ball around. There's no point in just playing the ball into the box. We have to know how to use what we have. We can gain speed. The flank continues to be our strong point and we have to take advantage of this," he stated.

The number 6 believes that, with more training time, the team has everything it needs to get things right and do well in the Brasileirão, even with the squad overhaul.
"Our team has changed a lot and we have to find the best way to play. With time to train, we'll be able to fit the team together," said the player, who reaffirmed his desire to stay at Flamengo, despite speculation linking him to European football.
"My situation is calm. I'm happy to play for Flamengo. I have no need to want to leave. We'll wait for Flamengo to contact us so we can resolve everything as quickly as possible. I'm proud to wear this shirt and come here to work every day. There's no reason to want to change now," he added.
Downpour outside - During Friday's training session, coach Rogério Lourenço suffered another loss. Midfielder Toró fractured his left hand. The player was treated by the medical department and then taken to the Itu hospital, where the fracture was confirmed. Toró will spend four to six weeks recovering.
