João Batista Sales, nicknamed "Wo Maravilha" after scoring the winning goal (3-2) for Flamengo against Benfica of Portugal, is now 65 years old, lives in San Francisco, United States, and doesn't plan on returning to Brazil, but whenever he can, he visits his homeland and the club that made him famous. This time, however, the visit had a special flavor.
"I stop by here whenever I can, but now I had to come and congratulate Zico. I was very happy when he took over. I also spoke with president Patricia Amorim, who seems to have great ideas for the club, and I'm rooting for the best to happen to Flamengo," he said.
Zico celebrated the support of his friend, with whom he played little in Flamengo's professional team, and highlighted the importance of this identification of the players who wear the red-and-black shirt with the club.
"He's very blessed, a charismatic guy, and someone I haven't played with much, but who means a lot to Flamengo. It's a pleasure to welcome him," said the Rubro-Negro's executive director of football.
