Today, Flamengo opens the semi-final of the Conmebol Sudamericana Cup against Junior Barranquilla, at the Maracanã, looking to return to a final of an international competition, which has not happened since 2002. These will be the first 90 minutes of a duel that has only occurred twice in history. The return match is scheduled for next Thursday (30), in Colombia.
A great connoisseur of the opponent, coach Reinaldo Rueda spoke about Junior Barranquilla and expects a very balanced match in the semi-final.
"Junior is a very important team in Colombian football, with a very experienced coach. In recent years, they have been a protagonist in the country. I believe it will be a very difficult and balanced match," said the coach, recalling the clashes he experienced during his time at Atlético Nacional. "We were fortunate to have intense and very difficult matches, both with the previous coach and the current one. Each game is different, but we are aware that we will be facing a great rival." Rueda also took the opportunity to call on the nation for the game, knowing the importance of the fans' support from the stands.
"For us, the support of the fans will be very important. We need their support. The team is at a crucial stage of an international tournament. We need this support so that this warmth and passion can be felt. Certainly, between today and tomorrow there will be a greater sale of tickets.
