Flamengo has finalized its third signing to continue its 2010 Brazilian Championship campaign. The midfielder, Correa, is currently signed to Dynamo Kyiv in Ukraine and played for Atlético Mineiro until this year. Flamengo has reached an agreement with the club that owns the player's rights and will have him on loan for one year.

As he still has a current loan contract with Atlético-MG until the 30th of this month, Correa will be officially presented in July. The defensive midfielder, originally from Limeira, in the interior of São Paulo, began his career at XV de Piracicaba, but burst onto the international scene with Palmeiras, where he played from 2003 to 2005.

In 2006, Correa was transferred to Ukraine, where he won two national championships, two Ukrainian Cups, and a Super Cup. Last year, the player's name was mentioned at Gávea, but the deal fell through. After confirming the signing, Flamengo's executive director of football, Zico, highly praised the player, who had faced him while playing for Dynamo Kyiv.

"I played against Correa when I was CSKA's coach, and I can say that he maintained good consistency. He's a player who will help us both defensively and offensively, as he has good passing and strong marking ability. I'm sure that, due to his dedication on the field, he will quickly become a fan favorite," said Zico, explaining that Correa is expected to join the squad in Itu during the second half of the preseason.

"We will do everything we can to speed up this documentation process. We want to have him as soon as possible. Our idea is that he can play in the first rounds after the return of the Brazilian Championship," he concluded.
