Flamengo announced this Wednesday (6) the signing of defender Léo Ortiz, who belonged to RB Bragantino. The 28-year-old defender signed a contract with Rubro-Negro until December 2028 and is the third reinforcement for the 2024 season. He arrives for the disputes of the Campeonato Carioca, Libertadores, Copa do Brasil and Campeonato Brasileiro.

Born in Porto Alegre-RS, Léo Ortiz began his career in futsal and moved to the field at the age of 16, when he joined Internacional's youth teams in 2012, making his professional debut in 2017. The defender also had a spell on loan at Sport before arriving at RB Bragantino, in January 2019. It was at the Bragança Paulista club where he stood out on the national scene.

In 2021, his good performances caught the attention of coach Tite, then commander of the Brazilian national team, who called up the defender for two friendlies (against South Korea and Japan) in preparation for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
