Right-back Mauricio Isla, 32, is Flamengo's newest signing. In an agreement with Flamengo's management, the Chilean signed a contract with the club until December 2022. Isla arrives in Brazil this week for his official presentation and to begin training with the rest of the Flamengo squad.

During the 2019/20 European football season, Isla played for Fenerbahçe in Turkey. For the Chilean national team, he has made 115 appearances (54 wins, 23 draws, and 38 losses) and scored four goals. He has played eight World Cup matches (4 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses) in the 2010 and 2014 editions.

The experienced right-back began his career in the youth ranks of the Catholic University (CHI). In mid-2007, Mauricio Isla transferred to Udinese (ITA) (152 appearances and seven goals). In the 2012 season, the Chilean was signed by Juventus (ITA), where he played 48 matches. He was then loaned to Queen Park Rangers (2014-2015) in England, where he remained for one season, before agreeing another loan to Olympique de Marseille (FRA). In 2016, Isla returned to Italy to play for Cagliari.

With his arrival at Flamengo, the right-back will play in South American football as a professional player for the first time.
