In the last two games of the Brazilian Championship, Flamengo took to the field with three defenders. And with this formation, Rogério Lourenço managed a draw against Grêmio and a victory away from home against Palmeiras. However, for this Saturday's (June 05.06th) match against Goiás at the Maracanã, the Flamengo coach doesn't know if he will repeat the team's tactical formation, as he has some players unavailable.
Known for his honesty when it comes to announcing Flamengo's starting lineup, Rogério confessed that he prefers to reveal the starting eleven to the press right away, but this time he can't.
"I prefer to announce the starting lineup the day before the games. That's how it was against Palmeiras, and it's been a routine practice here. Now, against Goiás, I won't announce the lineup today (Friday) because I haven't decided anything yet. We did some tactical work, and I tested the system with three defenders and the 4-4-2. In both, we have strengths and players who fit together better. I'll think about it a lot, and I can guarantee that I'll choose the best option for Flamengo to get a victory," the coach explained.
With Vagner Love, Petkovic and Álvaro will be absent.Rogério turned to a familiar face to the Flamengo fans to have more options in attack: Bruno Mezenga. In defense, the coach can count on the return of David, who was suspended and did not play against Palmeiras.
"We sought out Mezenga, who is always working here with us. I spoke about our needs and he made himself available. To replace Love, I have him and Diego Maurício. As for Petkovic's spot, I can field Michael or Camacho, who is also returning from suspension," Rogério concluded.
