It was a great victory. With a stellar performance, especially in the second half, Flamengo defeated Sport 4-1 and remains the leader of the 2018 Brasileirão, two points ahead of São Paulo. Now, the focus turns to the quarterfinals of the Copa do Brasil. "Mais Querido" faces Grêmio next Wednesday (August 01.08st) at the Arena do Grêmio. The Gauchos, by the way, will also be our opponents in the next round of the Brasileirão, on Saturday, also in Porto Alegre.

Pressure, goal and draw

Flamengo's pressure on their opponent began from the opening whistle. Intense and incisive, the team didn't let Sport breathe and set out to quickly settle the match.

Creating good opportunities and remaining in the attacking half, Mengão opened the scoring in the 13th minute. Diego took a corner kick, and Réver, opportunistic, finished for Magrão's goal.

With the advantage, the midfield and attack slowed down but continued to search for a second goal. However, as football doesn't always reward the best performance, Sport found the equalizer before halftime through Claudio Winck.

Massacre and rout

The second half was a massacre. Just three minutes in, Lucas Paquetá struck with skill to score the second. Two minutes later, Everton Ribeiro, in a stunning goal, scored the third.

The team had numerous opportunities in the sequence. And, in one of them, Uribe received the ball to seal the game's final goal, scoring his first goal with the Sacred Mantle.

Once the rout was in place, the pace of the game was good until the end, but the score remained at 4-1.
