Flamengo unveiled its new professional football coach this Saturday morning in Salvador. Dorival Júnior will take over the team and will lead the team in the match against Bahia later today, at 21 p.m., at Fonte Nova, for the 27th round of the Brazilian Championship. This will be the coach's second stint at Flamengo. He previously worked at the club in 2012-2013 and now returns with a contract until the end of the year, ready to make a final push toward the national title. 

Dorival hasn't trained with the team, but he's been observing them constantly and has a clear idea of ​​what he wants on the field. He opened the interview by talking about his predecessor and the team's style of play. He believes he won't have any major difficulties implementing his style, as his mindset is similar to Barbieri's. 

"I really like the way Barbieri prepares his teams. It's very similar to what I've always thought and liked about football. Our concepts are very similar, and I believe in this type of game, this type of concept. Flamengo demonstrated this throughout many matches this season. It made me believe that we can recapture the type of football that made Brazilian football famous," Dorival said in the press conference held this morning.

The coach didn't want to watch the game from afar. For the first match, he'll already be on the sidelines. He believes that through conversation and an understanding of football, he can immediately bring about a change in the team's attitude, even taking advantage of the midweek setback to instill a new mindset and strength in the players.

"It would be natural for every professional to be a little reserved, but I see a strong connection in the Flamengo team with what I believe. That's why everything was quick and straightforward. I'm going to intensify everything I've seen in the team. We're going to try to change our attitude after what happened this week by talking to the players. It's time to reverse the process and try to focus on the 12 games we have this week," he explained.

There will be only 12 matches until the end of the season. Dorival will have limited time, but a few full weeks to work with the team according to his vision. For the coach, this period is enough to work hard and achieve his goals. 

"In these 12 matches, we will have an expanded World Cup with five extra games. I hope to be able to contribute everything we've learned over the years. It's an important moment for the club. It will be crucial to have the attitude of a team that wants to get results. It's a short shot, yes, I'm aware of that." and I feel prepared to help Flamengo achieve its goals", concluded the coach.
