Flamengo presents new vice-president of football.
Gerson Biscotto will be in charge of rowing until the next state regatta in September.

On the morning of this Friday (August 28.08th), Gerson Biscotto was presented as the new vice-president of football for Flamengo. He will hold the same position in the club's rowing department until the next stage of the State Regatta in September, after which he will focus solely on football. The vice-presidency of the department had been vacant since the departure of Alexandre Wrobel.
Present at the press conference in the Rogerio Steinberg auditorium were the club's president, Eduardo Bandeira de Mello, the executive director of football, Rodrigo Caetano, and the vice-president of planning, Flávio Godinho. The directors spoke with journalists and explained how the football team works.

Biscotto Function
- Biscotto is coming to assist Rodrigo Caetano, to contribute and perform a similar function to that of (Alexandre) Wrobel. Besides being a beloved figure at the club for over ten years, he has already coordinated Flamengo's youth teams and will help us a lot in that regard. The football committee continues to exist, and Biscotto will be a link between everyone. Nothing changes in our structure or in relation to the priority we have always given to professional management. He will work in partnership with Flávio Godinho, our VP of Planning.
Football Committee
- For efficiency reasons, we created some thematic councils. We have Finance, Communication and Marketing, and Financial committees... as well as Football. The committee exists to formulate guidelines and strategies, preventing mistakes from being made. It acts, for example, in high-value signings. But it doesn't interfere in the day-to-day professional operations. It's not a management council, it's a committee to deal with strategic issues. Our administration is professional. Rodrigo Caetano is the one who manages Flamengo's football operations on a daily basis.

- Together with the team, I will put together the plan for 2016, including player signings. We will seek to correct past mistakes and take advantage of the 2015 squad, which is very good.

"I was in charge of the department in 2005, and the situation at Flamengo was very different from what it is today. Caetano and Godinho will work together to take on a very different role in 2016 than in previous years, while continuing the current work. Flamengo is a different club today. In 2005, during the championship, we managed to build the structure for the team that won the title in 2006, with the arrival of Léo Moura, for example. But at that time, we didn't have money. The club didn't have tax clearance certificates, and the Petrobras money was frozen. Today, we have a different club. After ten years, I have more maturity and more knowledge of Flamengo."

- The current administration had a plan to get things in order, and you can't do that while also making a lot of signings. Mistakes happen in football. We bring in players hoping for a good performance, and that doesn't always happen. I have a lot of faith in this squad. With Oswaldo's arrival, the coach will have time to get things right. Under his command, the squad has everything it needs to reach the top and fight for a place at the top of the Brazilian league table.
