Flamengo falls on its feet in Santiago
Warrior, the team from Gávea wins 2-1, but ends up eliminated from the Libertadores by "La U"

There was indeed no shortage of grit and fighting spirit. But despite their strong determination, Flamengo was unable to overturn the advantage "La U" gained in Rio de Janeiro and was eliminated from the Copa Libertadores on Thursday night. The team from Gávea won the match 2-1, with goals from Vagner Love and Adriano, but having lost the first leg of the match 3-2 at Maracanã, they are out of the international competition due to the number of goals scored away from home.
With this result, Universidad de Chile is the last team to qualify for the Copa Libertadores semifinals and will face Chivas of Mexico in the next round. Earlier this Thursday, Internacional eliminated Estudiantes in Argentina, despite losing 2-1, having won the first game at Beira-Rio 1-0. Their opponent will be São Paulo.

Goal of hope
As expected, the match started with a tense start. Flamengo was pushing for a result, while "La U" remained defensive, trying to rely on counterattacks and aerial balls. In the 45th minute, Adriano received the ball in the box, controlled it on his chest, and crossed with a bicycle kick.
