Flamengo celebrates the success of the special operational plan for the match against Emelec.
Traffic, security and access schemes for last Wednesday's game (16) were considered positive by the responsible bodies.
By Flamengo Communication - inLast Wednesday's (16) match against Emelec, for the group stage of the Conmebol Libertadores, was important for Flamengo not only for the positive result, which qualified the club for the round of 16 of the competition, but also for the success of the special operational plan organized for the match at the Maracanã. The Rubro-Negro prepared a balance sheet in partnership with the Municipal Department of Transport of Rio de Janeiro, the Municipal Guard of the State, in addition to the team from the Operation Command Center of the stadium.
In total, 40.390 people went to the stadium to watch Flamengo beat their opponent 2-0, and only 305 vouchers purchased in advance were not redeemed. The planning went smoothly without significant incidents. The Special Court for Fans and the Brigade/Medical Area, for example, had no record of any incidents during the game.
Regarding access, of the 1.598 complimentary tickets issued, 79 were invalidated because they belonged to users who were not entitled to the benefit. All were prevented from entering the Maracanã. Among the season ticket holders, only 31 people arrived at the stadium turnstiles believing they could attend the match without exchanging their purchase vouchers in advance. Only 63 counterfeit tickets were identified (57 from sector E + two from sector D + four from sector A), all before the ticket holders reached the turnstiles. At the end, the exit flow for both home and away fans proceeded without incident.
The Rio Municipal Guard also assessed the special operation for the match as very positive, implemented for the first time using double the normal number of officers employed in support of games held at Maracanã. The operational scheme involved a total of 443 guards and ended at 0:30 this Thursday (17). The preventive urban order work, five hours before the start of the match, was essential to avoid disorder around the stadium. Some irregular street vendors had their goods seized by the teams. The municipal guards also provided various assistance to the public on site.
According to the post-game assessment by the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Transportation Secretariat, the traffic plan functioned as planned. The agency explains that the operation involved 134 personnel, with 12 operational vehicles and 15 motorcycles, who worked to maintain traffic flow, prevent illegal parking, manage intersections, guide pedestrians, and implement road closures throughout the event.
Fifteen mobile and fixed variable message signs were used to provide information about the various closure times and alternative routes.
The Rio Operations Center (COR) monitored the entire event area with 68 cameras, allowing CET-Rio technicians to adjust traffic light programming based on traffic conditions at any given time.
The general population heeded the call to use public transportation, with subways and trains being the main modes of transport for spectators.
