A group of 50 fans were waiting for Flamengo at Afonso Pena Airport, in Curitiba, and expressed, on one of the banners, the thought that dominates the red-blacks for tomorrow's match, against Atlético-PR, at Arena da Baixada: "Let's end this taboo".
The fact that they have never beaten tomorrow's opponent at their current stadium is, without a doubt, an added bonus in a game of fundamental importance for Flamengo to once again fight for the top positions in the Brazilian Championship.
"We broke a taboo like that against Santos, and we can repeat that feat at Atlético-PR's home as well. It's not easy, but we trained well this week and are confident. We'll give our all to put in a good performance," said midfielder Willians, who returns to the team after serving a suspension against Santo André.
For defender Álvaro, the praise for his strong performance against Santo André isn't enough to satisfy the players. According to the experienced player, it's essential to strive for improvement with each match.
"There was an improvement in the last game, that's a fact. But we need to seek consistency. With the attention and determination we showed against Santo André, we can repeat our good performance and achieve victory."
