Flamengo's youth teams took to the court this weekend for semifinal matches of the 2008 Rio de Janeiro Futsal Championship. The under-09 team faced Grajaú and won 10-2. The under-11 and under-13 teams lost their matches against Canto do Rio and Fluminense, respectively. The under-11 team lost 5-1; and the under-13 team lost 6-5. The second semifinal matches will be played in Gávea.
The U-15 team failed to qualify for the final in their category after their match against Fluminense. In the second semifinal match, the red-and-black team needed to win in regulation time, take the game to overtime, and win again. However, the team from Gávea managed to finish the match with a 3-1 win, but ended up drawing 1-1 in overtime, and the spot went to Fluminense.
The U-17 team defeated Vasco da Gama and secured their spot in the category final. Playing away from home, the Flamengo boys defeated Vasco da Gama 6-4 in a match marked by camaraderie and good spirits from both teams and their fans. With this result, Flamengo advanced to the finals, where they will face Fluminense in another Rio derby.
The youth team took to the court for the first game of the final against Vasco da Gama and won the match 4-0. The second and final match takes place this Monday, at 20 pm, at the Olaria Gymnasium.
The senior team kicked off the second phase of the Campeonato Carioca against Grajaú. After having their match against Montanha canceled due to issues with the federation, the red-and-black team faced Grajaú and won 3-1. The second leg will be played in Gávea.
