Flamengo overcame all odds in Curitiba, defeating Paraná 1-0 with a header from Fabio Luciano following a cross from Juan. With the victory, Flamengo moved up to eighth place in the Brazilian Championship.

Flamengo came out very focused, managing to hold off Paraná, who sits third-to-last in the Brasileirão and is fighting relegation, and didn't pose much of a threat. The home team's only chance in the first half came in the 43rd minute, when the Championship's top scorer, Josiel, set up Batista, who shot just wide of Bruno's goal.

With the first half very tense, Flamengo had the best scoring opportunity. After a great run by Juan down the left flank, goalkeeper Flavio performed a miracle on a close-range header by Souza in the 45th minute.

The second half started with more action. Just 10 minutes in, the referee awarded a nonexistent penalty by Léo Medeiros on Adriano. Bruno made a great save from Josiel's shot, saving the red-and-black team.

Three minutes later, the same Adriano fouled Cristian hard and was sent off. With an extra player, Flamengo surged forward and soon found the net. Fabio Luciano headed a free kick from Juan into the net.

Flamengo began controlling the game. In the 31st minute, Ibson came off with cramps and was replaced by Luizinho, giving Leonardo Moura more freedom to advance.

Paraná tried to press until the end of the game. Even with the heavy rain that fell on Durival Britto Stadium, the score remained at 1-0 and Flamengo was finally able to celebrate the three points away from home, a thing they hadn't achieved since their victory over Goiás at the start of the Championship.\ Technical sheet:\
