Flamengo confirms participation in the 2019 Florida Cup.

São Paulo Futebol Clube, Eintracht Frankfurt, and AFC Ajax complete the list of teams that will participate in the event.

Flamengo is returning to the United States. The club hasn't played a match in the US since 2006, and in 2019, fans in the US will have the opportunity to see their team up close. Flamengo has confirmed its participation in the 2019 Florida Cup. The fifth edition of the event will take place from January 8th to 13th in Orlando, Florida, and will also feature São Paulo, Ajax (Netherlands), and Eintracht Frankfurt. Flamengo's participation in this already traditional Florida tournament is another step in the club's strategy to internationally strengthen its brand. 
 
"Taking Flamengo to the world will make us stronger and more competitive in relation to the richest clubs on the planet. We will take the Flamengo Nation, Rio de Janeiro, and Brazil to the country where football is growing the most. We want to be the biggest Nation in the world, and the Florida Cup is very important in this process of internationalizing the brand. It will be an opportunity for the Nation to show its strength in Orlando to the world," said Bruno Spindel, CEO of Flamengo. 
 
The last time Flamengo played in the United States was in 2006, for a friendly match against América of Mexico. In total, they played 12 matches in the country, with seven wins, two draws, and three losses. Regarding the next edition of the competition, the CEO of the Florida Cup showed great enthusiasm for the participants and the overall schedule. 
 
“The fifth edition of the Florida Cup promises to be one of the most competitive to date. Not to mention that, in addition to high-quality soccer, fans will be able to enjoy many other attractions at the Universal Orlando Resort theme parks during a week full of entertainment for fans of all ages,” said Ricardo Villar, CEO of the Florida Cup.
