Flamengo has won seven of the last nine points it has contested. Vasco, six. The two teams are separated in the standings by only four points, with the team from São Januário in the lead, and therefore, next Sunday's match at Engenhão is seen as crucial for both sides.

Both teams want to secure their place in the qualifying zone for the 2011 Copa Sudamericana and also need to prove they can maintain their momentum until the end of the Brasileirão. Striker Deivid knows the match is crucial and is counting on the team's happiness as their trump card in the derby.

"Vasco is coming off a loss and will really want to get a result against us. They have a strong team, but derbies are decided by details. We're going into this game more confident and happy because of our last result, and we have to go onto the field like that every time until the end of the championship," he said.

The player sees the current Flamengo team as different from the one that played before Vanderlei Luxemburgo arrived. According to him, the team has improved significantly – and in a short time.

"Today we have a different Flamengo. We were fighting hard to get results and, finally, they came. We left many teams behind and we already see the club in a better position, in just three rounds. We have grown well and in a short time," he concluded.
