Flamengo's board of directors and Adriano's agent, Gilmar Rinaldi, met late this afternoon to discuss the striker's situation, as he negotiates whether or not to stay with the club. The agent informed the club that the player has offers to leave and that he will consider them all before responding.
Gilmar clarified that his and the player's position was to first contact Flamengo and then resolve the future.
"I came here to let the club know that we have offers. It's a respect we have for Flamengo. Adriano is a Flamengo player until the 30th and is free to discuss these matters. The club was understanding and we respect that," said Gilmar.
The businessman also clarified that the decision to stay at the club or not is up to the player.
"I'm going to pass on everything we have to Adriano. I'm going to tell him that Flamengo intends to count on him, as do other clubs. In fact, we have several offers. From Italy and elsewhere," said Gilmar, making it clear that the financial factor won't matter.
"Adriano came to Flamengo without thinking about the financial issue. That's not what would be important now. He will decide with his family what he will do for his future. But I'll say this in advance, he has every right to think about leaving or staying here," he concluded.
