In the penultimate round of the Guanabara Cup, Flamengo faced Boavista. At Volt Redonda, the Red-Blacks had no trouble, winning by a three-goal margin. Mancuello, Marcelo Cirino, and Guerrero were responsible for putting the ball in the net.
With the result, Mais Querido rose to 3rd place, returning to the classification zone. The last match of this stage of the championship is against Bangu, next Sunday (17), at 16 pm.
The Game
Flamengo started the game dictating the pace and demonstrating how they would conduct themselves throughout the 90 minutes: leaving no room for misfortune. Just 55 seconds in, they had a good chance, with a tight cross from Rodinei that nearly fooled the goalkeeper. Flamengo pressed down the flanks and gave the opposing defense trouble. In the 19th minute, the first goal. Mancuello was fouled just outside the box. He took the shot himself and, with his characteristic class, slotted it into the far corner. Rodinei proved a good option on the right until, in the 30th minute, another goal came his way. The number 2 burst into the box and passed to Marcelo Cirino, who, with two touches, controlled the ball and sent it into the back of the net. Even ahead on the scoreboard, Flamengo pressed their opponents and pushed their defense upfield.
The second half began without Flamengo slowing down. The third goal came in the 12th minute. The opposing goalkeeper hesitated, missed the throw-in, and Guerrero believed. After blocking the ball and taking the goalkeeper out of the play, the Peruvian player collected the rebound and scored. Until the end of the match, Flamengo didn't give Boavista any space. Calmly, but without giving any space in their marking, the Rubro-Negro controlled the result.
