Flamengo and Barueri draw 1-1

The result kept the red-and-black team from Gávea in tenth place in the Brazilian Championship, with 17 points. Val Baiano opened the scoring for the visitors, and Emerson equalized for Flamengo. In the next round, Flamengo faces Santos on Sunday at Vila Belmiro.
Flamengo started the match better and had the first good opportunity in the eighth minute, with Ronaldo Angelim heading dangerously. The São Paulo team responded five minutes later. Ralf's shot from the edge of the box grazed Bruno's post. Soon after, Fierro's shot from outside the box frightened goalkeeper Renê.
In the 18th minute, Jorbison advanced down the left and crossed to Kleberson, who headed the ball against the crossbar. Emerson nearly tapped the rebound into the net. Flamengo was playing better, with Adriano and Emerson tormenting Barueri's defense.
In the 25th minute, the red-and-black defense faltered, and Val Baiano had a chance one-on-one with Bruno, but the red-and-black number 1 saved the striker's shot confidently. In the 37th minute, Franciscatti received the ball on the right and shot hard toward goal. Bruno jumped and made a beautiful save.
The second half started with a lot of action. Just six minutes in, Márcio Careca crossed from the left, and the ball hit Marlon's hand. Referee Cláudio Mercante awarded a penalty. In the 24th minute, Emerson capitalized on a rebound in the penalty area and tapped the ball into the net: 1-1 at the Maracanã. It was the number 11's sixth goal in the Brazilian Championship. In the 29th minute, Bruno Paulo advanced down the right and crossed for Adriano, but Barueri's defense was alert and cleared the ball for a corner.
Finally, in the 43rd minute, Willians made a good individual play and shot from the edge of the box. The ball hit the post and fell to Bruno Paulo, who couldn't convert it. It was Flamengo's last good chance of the match.
