By Flamengo Archive - inAlready qualified for the Guanabara Cup semifinals, Flamengo drew 2-2 with Boavista on Wednesday night at Maracanã. Josiel and Fábio Luciano scored the goals for the red-and-black team. The result kept Flamengo atop Group B with 16 points. Next Sunday, the team from Gávea faces Botafogo, second in Flamengo's group.
Flamengo took the field with a significantly modified lineup. Of the starters, only Bruno, Ronaldo Angelim, Fábio Luciano, and Zé Roberto participated in the match. Even so, Flamengo started the game on the attack and had the first opportunity with Jônatas, a long-range shot. In the ninth minute, Josiel received the ball from Kleberson and fired a powerful shot just wide of Vinícius's right post.
Dominating the match, Flamengo threatened again with Kleberson's shot from the edge of the box. In the 25th minute, Everton crossed from the right and Josiel finished for the goal: 1-0 Flamengo. It was the number 9's second goal in the Campeonato Carioca.
In the 38th minute, Toró and Bruno got in each other's way, and Boavista almost equalized. Four minutes later, Tony shot from outside the box, Bruno saved, but Roberto Santos beat Fábio Luciano to the goal and scored: 1-1 at the Maracanã.
In the second half, Flamengo returned with Airton and Egídio replacing Douglas and Jônatas. Three minutes in, Tony took a corner from the right, and Santiago headed it in: 2-1 Boavista. Soon after, Bruno Moreno hit a free kick that hit Bruno's crossbar.
In the 13th minute, Kleberson took a free kick from the left and Fábio Luciano headed it in to equalize: 2-2. With the goal, Flamengo grew in the match and began to pose more of a threat to the Saquarema team's goal. Everton Silva, making his Flamengo debut, was always a good option on the right.
In the 32nd minute, Kleberson had a chance to break the tie, but goalkeeper Vinícius made a great save from the five-time champion. The red-and-black team pressed until the end but couldn't change the score.
