Encouraged by the home crowd, which filled every section of the Maracanã stands, Flamengo outperformed and applied intense pressure throughout the match, always seeking victory. Sitting back for most of the match, Botafogo achieved its initial objective and, at the end of the 90 minutes, was able to celebrate the unfair 0-0 draw in the classic this Saturday afternoon (November 05.11), valid for the 34th round of the Brazilian Championship. With the result, Flamengo now has 63 points, sees the gap to Palmeiras narrow to four points, and awaits the results of Sunday's games to determine its future in the final four rounds of the competition.

The Pará-Gabriel duo worked well on the right flank of the Rubro-Negro attack early in the match. It was through that area that, in the first minute, after a good exchange of passes, Gabriel crossed for Diego to almost open the scoring, but his shot went over Sidão's goal. From then on and until midway through the first half, the game was intense and fiercely contested by both sides, but there were few scoring chances.
