This Sunday (August 09.08th), Flamengo faced Ponte Preta at Moisés Lucarelli. Despite dominating the match and creating more scoring opportunities, the Rubro-Negro lost 1-0, with a goal by Pablo.

The Most Beloved returns to the field on Wednesday (August 12.08th), against Atlético-PR, for the 18th round of the Brasileirão.

The match started with Flamengo showing offensive intent. Éverton passed to Guerrero. The Peruvian shot from outside the area, but the ball went too high. Two minutes later, it was Emerson's turn to try from distance. Again, the ball went over the goal. At 25 minutes, Alan Patrick took a free kick into the area and Guerrero headed the ball, but it hit the post. The post would shake again at 40 minutes, when Jorge and Éverton made a good play on the left and Emerson finished. The game went to halftime with no goals on the scoreboard.

In the second half, Cristóvão replaced Alan Patrick with Luiz Antonio. Flamengo would again show superiority in ball possession. Three minutes in, Márcio Araújo put Guerrero in a good position. The Peruvian carried the ball and shot with his left foot, but Marcelo Lomba made the save. Luiz Antonio created danger in the 12th minute when he received a pass from Jorge, controlled it with his chest and shot hard with the outside of his foot, but the ball went just wide of the post. Emerson almost opened the scoring in the 17th minute after receiving a beautiful pass from Jorge, but the opposing defense blocked it almost on the line. The Campinas team scored their goal in the 25th minute. Pablo took advantage of a corner and headed the ball. The ball deflected and deceived Cesar. Flamengo pressed and tried for the equalizer, but couldn't manage it.
