Flamengo suffered a 2-0 defeat to Atlético-PR on Wednesday night in Curitiba in the 18th round of the Brazilian Championship. With the loss, the team, which has four games in hand on most of its opponents, remains with 12 points in the standings.

Atlético-PR's goals were scored by Marcelo and Édino, one in each half. Flamengo returns to action this Saturday at the Maracanã against Náutico, and will look to begin its recovery in the Brazilian Championship with the support of its fans.

Flamengo barely had time to start the game well: after just 2 minutes,\ after a corner kick the ball was deflected and the striker\ Marcelo completed practically on the line: Atlético-PR 1 to 0.\

The goal, however, did not intimidate Fla, who almost equalized in the 10th minute: Ibson played a one-two on the left and served Juan, who shot hard and forced goalkeeper Guilherme to make a great save.

Despite constantly looking to attack, the team didn't create any more big opportunities in the first half: the red-black team from Paraná came close to scoring the second goal with Ferreira, in the 19th minute, and with Edno, in the 44th minute.

The second half began with Flamengo taking the initiative and searching for an equalizer, but failing to create any significant opportunities. The home side, with the advantage on the scoreboard, were more confident in their pursuit of a second goal.

And it happened in the 14th minute: Edno triangulated with Marcelo and Ferreira, in the middle of the box, shot. Goalkeeper Bruno still deflected the ball, which went low, into the left corner.

Despite being down, Flamengo still tried to rally and came close to opening the scoring in the 19th minute with Rodrigo Arroz, and in the 26th minute with a Renato Augusto strike that exploded off the defense. Atlético managed their lead well and threatened again only in the 23rd minute with Marcelo.
