Flamengo went to Belo Horizonte this Sunday (20.09) and was defeated by Atlético-MG, the home team, by 4 to 1. The Mais Querido now has a week of rest and returns to play next Sunday (27.09), for the Brazilian, against Vasco, at Maracanã.

Flamengo and Atlético played an intense match from the opening minutes at Independência. Flamengo had the first shot of the match in the 7th minute, when Guerrero received the ball from Canteros and shot from the edge of the box, but Victor saved it. The Atlético goalkeeper would concede a penalty a minute later. Cirino got into the box well, dribbled past the opposing goalkeeper, and was brought down. Alan Patrick took the shot, but Victor saved. The home team opened the scoring in the 16th minute, but Flamengo equalized two minutes later. Paulinho received a perfect cross from Canteros and shot powerfully, giving Victor no chance. The teams remained evenly matched even after Atlético's second goal, when Jemerson headed the ball into the net in the 25th minute. Flamengo created good chances on the wings. In the 48th minute, the equalizer almost came. There was confusion in Atlético's box, and Guerrero tried to shoot twice in quick succession, but the defense managed to prevent the ball from finding the net. 

In the second half, Flamengo started pushing forward, trying to turn the score around. However, Atlético-MG scored again. Jemerson once again headed the ball past Paulo Victor, leaving it unmarked. The ball hit the crossbar and bounced back into the net. Atlético would score again in the 25th minute, when Dátolo struck from distance to seal the victory.
