On Sunday afternoon (13), Flamengo went to the Independência stadium, in Belo Horizonte, to face Atlético-MG. Even looking for the goal and creating good opportunities, Mais Querido was defeated by 2 to 0. With the result, the red-black team is in 6th place in the Brazilian Championship.

The next red-black challenge will be on Wednesday (16), when Mengo faces Botafogo, at 21:45 pm, at Engenhão, for the first leg of the Copa do Brasil semi-final.

Flamengo started the match trying to hold off Atlético's attacks. In the 14th minute, Felipe Vizeu received a long ball and tried to beat Victor, but the referee called a foul on the red-and-black team's best opportunity so far. Shortly after, the referee awarded a penalty to the Minas Gerais team, which Fábio Santos converted.

After falling behind, Mengo began to dictate the pace of the match, putting pressure on their opponents in attack. With good chances created, Mengo nearly equalized, but went into halftime trailing 1-0 at Independência.

In the second half, Flamengo returned to the field to try to reverse the deficit. However, in the 8th minute, Miguel Trauco committed a foul and was sent off. Shortly thereafter, Atlético-MG extended their lead with a goal from Rafael Moura.

Looking for chances and trying to put pressure on the Minas Gerais team, Flamengo was unable to find the net, ending the match with a 2-0 defeat away from home.
