Flamengo suffered a setback on Wednesday night (14.10) in its quest to climb the table. In Santa Catarina, Rubro-Negro visited Figueirense and was defeated 3-0. The team's next match is on Sunday (18.10), against Internacional, at Maracanã, at 16 pm.

The match started off fiercely at the Orlando Scarpelli stadium. Figueirense took advantage of home advantage and pushed forward, but Flamengo's "Mais Querido" (The Most Beloved) team was giving them little space. Flamengo's first chance came in the eighth minute, when Alan Patrick was fouled. Kayke took a powerful shot, but the ball sailed wide of the goal. Four minutes later, Paulinho attempted a header but failed to create any danger. The score was broken in the 21st minute, when Clayton found the net for the home team. From then on, Flamengo's dominance was evident. Despite over 70% possession, Flamengo was unable to break down the Santa Catarina defense.

In the second half, the match changed little. Flamengo started dominating and created good chances, but couldn't equalize. The home team capitalized on counterattacks and managed to increase the score in the 20th minute, again through Clayton. The final result came in the 40th, when Dudu scored the third.
