In the 9th round of the Campeonato Carioca, Flamengo was defeated by Vasco 3-1 on Thursday night (15), at Maracanã. Vitinho scored the only goal for the red-black team in the match.
The game
Flamengo started the match valuing possession and seizing the initiative. But Vasco opened the scoring with a Léo Matos header: 1-0. The red-and-black team exchanged passes, looking for space in the Vasco defense. In the 25th minute, Gabi played a one-two with Everton Ribeiro and fired a shot with the toe. The ball went just wide of the post.
At 27', Vasco extended their lead with Cano: 2-0. Almost at the end, Bruno Henrique controlled the ball in the area, cut inside and shot dangerously, but the goalkeeper made a good save.
Rubro-Negro returned for the second half trying to pressure their opponent. Within a minute, Everton Ribeiro found Gerson in the box, who shot, but the goalkeeper saved. Vitinho then hit the post with a shot. In the 9th minute, Filipe Luís delivered a good cross, and Everton Ribeiro fired a first-time shot, but Lucão made the save.
The red-and-black team continued to pressure Vasco, but struggled to penetrate the box and score. In the 32nd minute, the team from São Januário scored the third goal through Morato. In the final minute of the match, after a back-and-forth in the box, Vitinho pulled one back for Flamengo, making it 3-1.
