The game
The match was halted just three minutes in after a hard foul by Carbone on Ygor Catatau. The Volta Redonda striker received treatment on the pitch. On their first attack, the Flamengo youth team managed to open the scoring through Douglas Telles. However, after a VAR review, it was determined that Joshua was offside in the build-up to the play.
With only ten minutes of play, Carbone received his second yellow card and was sent off, leaving the red-and-black team with one less player. Volta Redonda, in turn, made the most of their numerical superiority and opened the scoring in the 16th minute. On a counter-attack, Ygor Catatau was released down the right and crossed low for MV to finish with a sliding tackle into the net: 1-0.
After the opponent's goal, Flamengo tried to attack several times, but was neutralized by Volta Redonda's defense, which reduced the spaces and made it difficult for the red-and-black team to advance. At 45', Douglas Telles gave a good pass to Daniel Sales, who entered the area and unleashed a powerful shot that was well saved by Avelino. The first half ended with a partial victory for the home team.
At the start of the second half, Volta Redonda extended their lead. Wagninho crossed into the box and Rafael Castro headed home unmarked at the far post to score the home side's second goal: 2-0. Volta Redonda even scored a third in the 10th minute through Catatau, but VAR detected an offside by Wellington Silva in the build-up to the play.
Throughout the game, Volta Redonda continued to control the action and create chances. After the water break, Ygor Catatau even scored, but VAR again caught Blanco offside at the start of the play. In the 35th minute, Volta Redonda scored their third goal. Wagninho delivered another cross into the box and Dener headed it into the corner: 3-0.
In the final minutes, the Flamengo youth team tried to reduce the deficit, but couldn't find the back of the net. The game ended with their second defeat in the Carioca Championship.
