Flamengo and Fluminense drew 0-0 this Sunday at Maracanã Stadium in a match valid for the eighth round of the Brazilian Championship. The result dropped the team from Gávea to seventh place in the standings with 11 points, six behind leaders Atlético-MG. In the next round, the red-and-black team faces Vitória at Engenhão Stadium.

The match started off fiercely competitive, and it was Fluminense who had the first chance. In the ninth minute, Edcarlos received the ball in the penalty area and shot across goal. Bruno made a fine save, saving Fluminense. Flamengo threatened three minutes later. Everton burst into the box from the left and unleashed a powerful shot. The ball deflected off the defense and nearly caught Ricardo Berna off guard.

The match was very tight in midfield, with few scoring chances. The red-and-blacks' last good opportunity in the first half came from Adriano in the 43rd minute.
