The result dropped the team from Gávea to seventh place in the standings with 11 points, six behind leaders Atlético-MG. In the next round, the red-and-black team faces Vitória at Engenhão Stadium.

The match started off fiercely competitive, and it was Fluminense who had the first chance. In the ninth minute, Edcarlos received the ball in the penalty area and shot across goal. Bruno made a fine save, saving Fluminense. Flamengo threatened three minutes later. Everton burst into the box from the left and unleashed a powerful shot. The ball deflected off the defense and nearly caught Ricardo Berna off guard.

The match was very tight in midfield, with few scoring chances. The red-and-blacks' last good opportunity in the first half came from Adriano in the 43rd minute. The Emperor received a pass in the penalty area and tried to head the ball over Ricardo Berna, but the Fluminense number 1 made a good save.

The second half was more exciting and had more scoring chances. Early on, Fred capitalized on a blunder by Flamengo's defense and nearly opened the scoring. In the 13th minute, Ricardo Berna released the ball to Emerson's feet inside the penalty area. The number 11 shot, but Edcarlos saved it on the line.

The red-and-black team was playing better, and Fabrício almost scored the first goal with a header in the 17th minute. Soon after, Ibson shot from the edge of the box, and Fluminense's number 1 saved.

In the 27th minute, Emerson dribbled past Mariano and took a powerful shot, but Ricardo Berna saved another. Three minutes later, Léo Moura received the ball from Juan in the penalty area, unleashed a powerful shot, and the Fluminense goalkeeper saved it.
