A story built on idols, fantastic matches, and a plethora of passionate fans. On Fla-Flu match day, everything stops across the country. Next Saturday (24), the tradition will repeat itself. For the 21st time, Flamengo and Fluminense meet far from their home state. In Cuiabá, at Arena Pantanal, the teams face off in the second round of the Taça Rio at 17 p.m.

In retrospect, Mais Querido has six wins, three losses and eleven draws in these 21 matches in 13 different cities.

Brasília has hosted the derby the most, with five matches at the Mané Garrincha Stadium. Minas Gerais follows with three games and São Paulo with two. Rio Grande do Sul, Pernambuco, Paraíba, Goiás, Sergipe, Bahia, Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, and Espírito Santo are other Brazilian states that have witnessed the Fla-Flu clash. Outside the country, the teams have even faced each other in Spain, in the city of La Coruña, for the Teresa Herrera Trophy.

This, however, will be the first time the teams face off in Cuiabá. Debuting at Arena Pantanal, the Fla-Flu match will mark another chapter in its history, once again far from Rio de Janeiro. For the Mato Grosso nation, Saturday marks their first encounter with the derby at home.
